It’s the most wonderful time of the year, twinkling lights, countless gingerbread lattes, frosty chill in the air and cosy nights tucked up in front of the tv. If only it was so simple, Christmas, as enjoyable it may be, can bring on an immense amount of stress and chaos. Which is why I’ve put together some simple ways to help you de-stress after your festive check lists are complete and you can don your paper crown with a sign of calm!
Take a bath
Now I don’t mean just any old bath, I’m talking about have a Procoal moisture lock bath! This involves using the Skin Defence Balm in a way that it’s never been used before. Due to the balm being packed with a multitude of all natural oils and ingredients, formulated to help dry skin and even eczema flare ups.
It’s easy enough to understand you can simply slather your skin after a bath for all-day hydration and comfort. But we have another trick up our sleeves when it comes to this product and that to use it in the bath. Here is the recipe for the Procoal moisture lock bath!
Add one teaspoon of balm under warm running water
Mix the water up, you will see flakes of oils on the surface of the water
Once you are in the bath, some of the oil flakes will attach themselves to your body
Work these flakes in circular movements until they have melted into the skin
Wash and relax as usual
As you stand up, you may find the remaining flakes apply themselves to your body, work these into the skin as before, no need to rinse
Pat dry your skin
Emerge from the bathroom looking like a glowing goddess
All jokes aside, you will find that by working the flakes of balm into the skin will lock moisture into the skin leaving you with super soft with a mega-watt glow! It’s best to pat dry with a soft towel to avoid rubbing away any of the hydrating coating of balm on the skin. Any dryness or discomfort won’t be a concern for the rest of the day.
You can also add Epsom salts and a drop or two of your favourite essential oil to dial up the luxe factor for the ultimate pampering bath time!
Don’t forget your feet!
We all become obsessed with the appearance of our feet once the temperatures begin rise, but there’s no time like the present to take a minute to look after our tired toes- think of all the miles you’ve covered recently with all that shopping you’ve done!
Well, it’s time to put your feet up, but before you do, slip on a pair of the Peel Away Foot Mask. Let the powerful blend of exfoliates work away all the build-up of dead skin for 60 to 90 minutes (just enough time to watch a decent amount of Home Alone!) You will find that your feet start to peel after a week from the mask application, you can of course speed things up by soaking your feet in warm water. Be sure not to pick at your feet as this could create more damage to the skin, and don’t apply the masks after having a festive pedicure!
After two weeks you will be left with a brand new pair of feet! Admittedly they won’t look their best during the peeling stage- but that’s what Christmas socks are for!
Lock-In The Hydration
The wind, the rain, the central heating, if your skin wasn’t dry before it will be now during this time of year. I have previously spoken about the benefits of drinking enough water, but there is only so much that can help with this skin battering environment, especially after one too many glasses of fizz at your Christmas party!
This is when the Marine Moisture Sheet Mask are here to save the day. Suitable for a skin types, this revitalising blend of active ingredients will nourish and restore balance back into the complexion with no signs of the face feeling tight, perfect.
Dehydrated skin will make you believe you are seeing the first signs of aging, when in actual fact, it’s just thirsty and to bring it back to life you need to topically add some moisture the skin. Using a sheet mask is the easiest way to give the skin a water boost reviving the vibrance and fullness back to the skin.
For an added shot of hydration try chilling the mask in the fridge and apply it in the morning, this will not only iron out any dehydration lines but also banish any puffiness around the eyes giving you the perfect base for your Christmas day makeup.
If you find redness and blemishes are causing you more worries, then change up the sheet mask for the Instaclear Control. This purifying mask has been proven to help calm blemish-prone skin leaving it nourished with the oils and water levels balanced.
Get Scrubbing!
The best accessory to a sparkly, sequined covered party dress is an all-over golden tan! Not personally wanting to promote using sunbeds to gain a sun-kissed glow, and you may be cutting it a little bit fine to catch a flight to sunnier climes, you are better off with it out of a bottle. But there is always the risk of streaks, this is when the Activated Charcoal Face Scrub becomes your self-tanning friend!
The day before you plan to tan, apply the scrub onto the infamous tricky tanning areas, such as your knees, elbows, wrists and ankles! Self-tan just loves to settle in the areas and develop into a different colour to the rest of your skin, especially if you haven’t taken the time to prep the skin beforehand. By scrubbing the skin in these areas you will remove any debris and dead skin cells, remembering to moisturise the areas after exfoliating to ensure that you get an even finish to your at-home tanning session, after all, there is nothing more mood-lifting than having a touch of tan during these chilly months!
Now I understand that some of these tips seem a little laborious to some, but it really is remarkable how taking a little time to look after yourself with some self-care. Feeling run down and stressed is never helped with looking run down and stressed, relaxing and pampering yourself will lift the spirits and press the reset button. With this chilled, up-beat mindset you’ll be surprised at how much more you’ll enjoy this wonderful time with your family, even when someone cheats at Monopoly!
