How to Cure Dry Skin on Face Overnight?
Dry skin on the face is something everyone is going to experience at least once in their lifetime, though some more than others depending on skin type. Dryness to the skin is a very common condition and today we are going to share with you some advice on treating dry skin, understanding why developed and how to cure it overnight.
What causes dry skin on the face
There are many factors that contribute to the dryness of the skin, here are some of the most common;
Skin ageing
Central heating
Weather
Lack of humidity
Harsh chemicals
Over-washing the skin
Using skin ingredients that do not suit your skin type
Exposure to environmental aggressors
It is known that if you make some changes to counteract the skin drying factors mentioned above than you will find there is a marked improvement of the overall health of the skin, resulting in it becoming more comfortable, less tight and hydrated with no flaky patches.
Your skin type also plays an important role in how you can prevent any signs of dryness, by understanding your skin type you will find it a lot easier to treat;
Common skin types:
Normal
When it comes to a normal skin type, you will find its neither prone to becoming too oily or too dry. However, it can suffer from changes to its appearance which is usually strongly linked to the weather. During the winter months the drop of temperature and humidity can create an imbalance resulting in normal skin types to experience some tightness and flaking.
Dry
Dry skin types are usually lacking in the correct levels of the vital oils and water that are needed to keep the skin’s protective skin barrier functioning properly. When dry skin experiences dryness it is usually a result of overexposure to one or more of the causes mentioned previously, such as central heating or harsh skin ingredients. You will find there are areas of the face that are dry, flaking with a rough texture.
Oily
Oily skin type is the least likely to suffer from dryness. The main reason being overuse of harsh ingredients or scrubs and excessive cleansing which leads to the skin becoming stripped of water and oil.
Combination
You can expect to find dryness in combination skin types to develop in certain areas on the face, particularly on the cheeks which can feel tight and uncomfortable. The T-zone however, will generally remain oily.
All skin types can experience dryness in one way or the other, this is why it is a good idea to know which one you have so you are able to care for it with the best ingredients. If you are still a little unsure which skin type you have there is a dedicated blog post over on our website about the most common skin types.

How to cure dry skin on face overnight
To cure the skin of any dryness in rapid time is quite the desired result, especially if you are suffering from some discomfort and tightness of the skin. We recommend you follow the skin tips previously shared as this will provide the most effect and long-standing benefits to the skin and tackling dryness. There are also a couple of extra steps to take when you are wanting to cure dry skin overnight.
Add humidity to the room-
Central heating is a huge culprit for causing dry skin, but it would be unthinkable of me to suggest turning it off to help your skin. Placing a humidifier in the room will add moisture back into the air allowing the skin to remain comfortable. You can help it even further by applying hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to draw in the moisture in the air and locking it into the skin.
Change your pillowcases-
Laundry detergent that are labelled hypoallergenic work wonders at not irritating the skin, it is a good idea to wash your bedding in such detergent to remain gentle on the skin. You can also change your pillowcases to silk ones as these are less aggravating and won’t cause any dryness to the face.
Swap to a facial oil-
I have briefly mentioned using a facial oil already in this post, but it is something to consider if you are wanting fast, overnight results. By swapping to a facial oil you will replenish the skin by deeply hydrating the skin and boost the cycle of dead skin cell renewal. By morning you should find your skin to look smoother, feel softer with a vibrant glow.
When treating dry skin you must also take into consideration the seasonal effects, where you live and your lifestyle choices, all of which can be treated with a well-established skincare routine containing active ingredients to help nourish and protect the skin from any further dryness or damaged caused by the health of the skin.
